This fall we will continue to build off of our box/field hybrid format that has shown huge success in both player development and player enjoyment. We are excited to continue to showcase our 8v8 box/field hybrid, which shortens and tightens the playing surface, helping to clarify concepts that are essential to the full 10v10 field game. Once players graduate to the high school ranks they participate in our 10v10, full field league.
At CitySideLax, our founding principle is P.I.C.A. (Preparation, Innovation, Connection, and Accountability). That being said, the game of lacrosse is constantly evolving and to evolve with the game we believe we must be innovative with our approach. The new hybrid format emphasizes several indoor lacrosse principles that are being displayed more frequently at a high school, collegiate, and professional level. Our objective is to teach these key indoor concepts in a field environment in an effort to provide our students with a better understanding and perspective of lacrosse.
We will place players on teams according to their spring programs and max teams at 17 players (first come first serve). Each Sunday our teams will participate in a designed practice followed by a game under a controlled scrimmage environment. Our controlled scrimmage environment is something we feel is extremely important to the development of a lacrosse player. Through on field, in game, coaching our players get instant, scenario based training unlike anywhere else. The schedule will be generated round-robin style with the first 3 weeks serving as the regular season. The final 2 weeks will be playoffs based on regular season team records. The playoff games will be officiated and the controlled scrimmage philosophy will not be practiced.
